But before more details, here's a spoiler alert for those who are yet to watch Avengers: Infinity War.

The Disney and Marvel blockbuster earned a huge $61.8 million in its third weekend.

It also became the 21st film ever to hit the milestone in the country and the fifth non-Korean film to do so, following "Avatar" (2009), "Interstellar" (2014), "Frozen" (2014) and "Avengers: Age of Ultron" (2015). The latest Melissa McCarthy comedy came in second place but only took in $18.5 million.

Today Marvel Studios' AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR has become the biggest superhero movie of all time within the United Kingdom and Ireland with an estimated total box office of £60M after its third weekend of release.

Given the events that transpired in Avengers: Infinity War, it makes ideal sense for Disney/Marvel to withhold what's coming next after those titles, but it's looking increasingly likely that Captain Marvel is going to reset their cinematic slate. And that has led to a multi-record-breaking box office performance.

"We'll get it set for the next two or three months". The film also debuted in Mexico this weekend where it brought in an estimated $10.5 million, the highest opening in Mexico ever for star Eugenio Derbez. And they did, including characters such as Spider Man and Black Panther, who vanish into thin air no matter how important their role is on the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The mega Marvel mashup continues its iconic run by becoming the second fastest film to reach $500 million at the domestic box office. Also, it had taken the highest opening day collection for 2018 beating out Baaghi 2, which had a much wider release.
