A buckling floor outside a supermarket in the inner-Brisbane suburb of West End has prompted the partial evacuation of a shopping centre.

"Coles West End is now closed for trade while engineers investigate an issue with flooring outside the store".

A spokesperson for Queensland Fire and Emergency Services told Yahoo7 News the collapse was initially reported as an explosion.

Shoppers were evacuated after the floor began caving in on Friday morning.
