Geoff Johns Stepping Down As DC Entertainment President

It's been a bit of a tumultuous year for Warner Bros. when it comes to DC properties. He's already writing and producing Wonder Woman 2 and now has a co-writing and executive producing credit on James Wan's Aquaman, opening this December. I'm thrilled to get back to a more hands-on creative role.

The Hollywood Reporter broke the story, and notes that DC co-publisher Jim Lee will replace Johns as DC Entertainment President. "We're thrilled that he's returning to his passion and his roots as a writer and producer". And one of his first projects will be Warner Bros. Following the mammoth failure that is the Green Lantern film (which was supposed to be the film that kickstarted the DC film universe), the studio knew they'd have to distance itself from that film in order to make it work. New Line's "Shazam!", slated for an April 2019 release, is based on his original graphic novel. THR says he "also wrote the Titans episode "Doom Patrol" that it is spinning out into its own 13-episode original series for the digital service". He is executive producing alongside Berlanti, Sarah Schechter and Jeremy Carver. During his tenure, he oversaw the creation of mega-popular superhero television shows like Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl, and more. But it sounds like Johns was itching to get back to being a pure creative, and in addition to his movie projects, he has even more DC projects in the works. He's also set to write a new Shazam comic, and if all that wasn't enough, he's writing yet another comic called Three Jokers. Additionally, Johns will finish Doomsday Clock, his current event miniseries which is integrating characters from Alan Moore and David Gibbons' Watchmen into DC's multiverse. Reading, "Once of DC Comics' greatest Super Hero universes, the film will feature Hal Jordan and John Stewart...", it confirms the expected news that Jordan is in for a reprieve after 2011's Green Lantern. "The new publishing projects we are working on together will be instant fan-favorites". "I'm also excited to continue to work with the awesome team at DCE and my colleagues at Warner Bros".

On June 8, the Russian Defense Ministry denied the reports, saying that those allegations "have nothing to do with the reality". The fighting, which was continuing Sunday, had killed six pro-Damascus fighters and at least three Takfiri elements, he added.

Stay tuned for more details on the move and the future of DC Entertainment. His gravitation toward lower-level characters with unexplored and untapped potential has led to Johns now holding the No. 3 spot on the 100 most prolific DC comics writers list next to comic book legends Robert Kanigher and Gardner Fox.
