We do know that Beyond Good & Evil 2 is a prequel to the first game, and it the game is going to follow shortly after Jade (main character from the first game) was born and is set in System 3.

Ubisoft teased Beyond Good and Evil 2 in 2008 with a trailer that featured Jade, but the publisher said little about the game since. The humanoid pig Pey'j also makes an appearance. System 3 has become the center of interstellar trade and colonization in the Milky Way of the 24th century, thanks to the creation of Hybrid slaves.

The solar system is vast and takes place in a multicultural world, capturing the essence of the original with intense drama that plays out across vast distances.

Beyond Good and Evil 2 still doesn't have a release date, but Ubisoft is holding a "Space Monkey Program" for the game, which provides regular updates about its progress and gives fans a chance to help shape the title.

After showing some pre-alpha gameplay footage you could see if you squinted, Ubisoft announced the game would be partnering with actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt's company HitRecord - which creates unique pieces of art through collaboration online. Content creators will be paid for their hard work. Players will control their own custom space pirate, tasked with navigating from planet to planet doing general piratey things. The footage shows off the city of Ganesha. More information will be revealed later this year at an event called "BG Fest".
