Speaking in German at a business conference in Berlin, Le Maire said that proposals laid out last Sunday by German Chancellor Angela Merkel showed Berlin and Paris had similar views and he welcomed her support for an investment budget for the euro zone.

The German leader again questioned the durability of trans-Atlantic relations by referring to eye-raising comments she made over a year ago in which she said that "the times when we could fully rely on others are to some extent over".

The description attached by Merkel's office is a totally unsatisfying one.

"In my view it is important that we not agree on less than we achieved past year", she told reporters, setting a modest bar for success in what could be the most hard G7 summit in decades.

In the seconds leading up to the crash, the vehicle sped up and didn't brake or steer away from a crash attenuator. The NTSB report notes some other significant details about the vehicle and how fast it was going.

The summit comes in as major Western industrialized economies conflicted with the United States on Washington's unilateral trade policies.

"We are in agreement that a return of Russian Federation to the G7 can not happen unless substantial progress is made in terms of the problems with Ukraine", Western media quoted Merkel as saying.

Ministers from Germany, France and Britain have written to US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and finance secretary Steven Mnuchin, urging them to shield European companies operating in Iran from Washington's new sanctions.

The legality of the decisions at that time was confirmed by the European Court of Justice.
