Guess Inc. co-founder steps down amid sexual assault allegations

The decision came after a unanimous vote by the board, from which Marciano and his brother Maurice recused themselves.

"The investigation found that on certain occasions (Paul) Marciano exercised poor judgment in his communications with models and photographers and in placing himself in situations in which plausible allegations of improper conduct could, and did, arise", the filing said.

The filing says allegations against Paul Marciano included inappropriate comments and texts and unwanted kissing and groping.

Supermodel Upton recently took to Instagram to slam Guess chiefs for attempting to pull off a "stunt" in their sexual misconduct investigation into her allegations against Marciano.

Bloomberg reporter Kim Bhasin said Marciano gets to stay on until January, when his contract expires.

An internal investigation was launched by the company in February, with Guess heads forming a special committee to conduct a formal review into the matter, but The Layover actress is convinced the inquiry is bogus, suggesting bosses were just doing it to save face. He will forfeit his salary for the period he sat out, but will be paid from June until January.

Guess said that Marciano reached settlements with five individuals, totaling $500,000.

She also said that he harassed her by showing up at hotels where she was staying and texting her inappropriate comments. And, in other cases, the investigation found that credible accounts were given by both sides.

"We are pleased at today's news. and yet, much more remains to be done if Guess truly wants to be a brand that stands for respect for women", said lawyer Lisa Bloom, who represented four of the alleged victims.

"We do not believe a man with so many credible accusations of sexual assault is fit to lead any company", Ms Bloom said.
