Sidney Loofe, 24, was found chopped up in several garbage bags after meeting Bailey Boswell for a date on the app, with Boswell and her boyfriend Aubrey Trail charged with first-degree murder Monday.

Trail and Boswell appeared in Saline County Court on Tuesday.

According to the documents, before Loofe went to work at Menards on November 15, Trail and Boswell were captured on surveillance video together at Home Depot, buying a variety of "tools and supplies".

Aubrey Trail and Bailey Boswell are seen in police booking photos. Loofe's mother reported her missing on November 16, and her dismembered body was found in December stuffed into garbage bags that had been dumped in a field near Edgar, about 90 miles (145 kilometres) southwest of Lincoln.

Court documents reveal Trail told Federal Bureau of Investigation agents he had strangled the girl with an extension cord.

Loofe's remains were found in December.

Federal agents tracked down Trail and Boswell at a hotel on November 30 near Branson, Missouri, and brought them back to Nebraska on fraud indictments in a separate case.

Despite that Trail alleged the death was accidental, investigators pursued charges of premeditated murder rather than accidental death, though they declined to comment on why those particular charges were pursued.

Authorities haven't suggested a motive for the killing. The Nebraska Attorney General's office, which is prosecuting the case, said it is considering seeking the death penalty. However, he said Boswell was on drugs at the time and wasn't in the room when Loofe died.

Boswell initially claimed she dropped Loofe "at a friend's house" after they went out.

"She took to Tinder to look for that person and unfortunately, found someone that had nothing but evil plans for her."

Trail has previously said he did kill her, but claims it was during a sexual fantasy gone wrong.

She said: "She texted me and told me about the date she had (and) how great it went and she was excited to go on another date with her again Wednesday night".

'It happened in Saline County.

He told the Omaha World-Herald: 'It wasn't supposed to go to the extreme it went, of course not. "It wasn't meant that she was to die". Trail told the World-Herald that he would welcome it.

'A life for a life - that's the rules in my world.

Trail gave an interview with a newspaper back in January, and even said "I should be put to death".

Authorities identified the pair as persons of interest in her disappearance and the two reportedly responded in Facebook videos denying their involvement. She has two siblings, a brother Levi and a sister MacKenzie.
