All we really know about Black Manta at this point are the very basics about his character.

Arriving Dec. 21, Aquaman stars Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Amber Heard as Mera, Patrick Wilson as Ocean Master, Willem Dafoe as Nuidis Vulko, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Black Manta, Temuera Morrison as Thomas Curry and Dolph Lundgren as Nereus.

Plot details for Aquaman are now under wraps, though the film centers on the King of Atlantis and will dive much deeper into the character's past as it explores the discovery of his powers and his reluctance to accept his role as King. Kane himself is a sea pirate and mercenary who actually doesn't have any powers, but utilizes his iconic suit to help compensate for that.

Aside from those fierce females, EW also debuted a sneak peek at one of the film's villains, Black Manta, though not in costume just yet.

Meghan Markle And Prince Harry’s Secret African Honeymoon Details Revealed
To bump the look up a notch, the Duchess of Sussex added a Givenchy belt and clutch and simple black pumps from Sarah Flint. Together, Markle and the queen attended the official opening of Storyhouse, a new theater, library and cinema in Cheshire.

Entertainment Weekly unveiled two collectors edition covers for the Aquaman special which hits shelves on Friday. But don't go expecting some full-blown Batman v Superman-style grit.

"The water world my movie takes place in is so separate and so far apart from previous DC movies it's like I'm making my own sci-fi fantasy film".

Distancing Aquaman from the DCEU that's come before was inveitable, as Warner Bros. and those involved don't want the Justice League stink to stick around on their upcoming slate. Let's just hope that Jason Momoa's version of Arthur Curry will usher in a new era for the Aquaman character. Between these comments and those colorful Wonder Woman 1984 images, the future of DC looks bright.

Doing what everyone has told us not to do and actually judging something based off a literal cover, it seems that since Kidman's Queen Atlanna is alive and Momoa's Aquaman is in his adulthood, the forthcoming film might root its story in a newer plot seen in the Aquaman comics canon.
