After the DGMOs' meeting, Pakistan again resorted to unprovoked firing on June 3, killing two BSF personnel, including an assistant sub-inspector.

Eleven BSF troops have been killed in cross-border firing incidents along the International Border (IB) in Jammu and Kashmir till date in 2018, the highest casualty figure for the border force in a year in the past five years, the latest data revealed. "We will meet many times". They were shifted to the Hospital where three including assistant commandant were declared dead. The ceasefire announcements were made, the decisions were taken.

Pakistan's ousted prime minister Nawaz Sharif's brother and PML-N chief Shehbaz Sharif has asked India to resume peace talks with Islamabad, saying the Singapore summit between the U.S. and North Korea should set a good precedent for both the bickering neighbours to follow. "How we respond to the betrayal is our job", he said.

Asked whether the BSF will lodge a protest with Pakistan, he said, "Of course, it would".

"Pakistan Rangers initiated cross-border firing along the IB in Ramgarh sector last night. We lost four of our personnel". "One jawan has been injured", said a BSF officer of Jammu Frontier. "Our heart goes to those who lost their dear ones", he said.

BSF officials said that Pak Rangers first attacked a patrol party with cross border firing in which a few BSF men were injured and when a rescue team was sent to evacuate them Pakistan fired mortars in a lethal attack on the rescuers. Three other bordermen received severe injuries.

All the martyred and injured jawans belonged to the 62 battalion of BSF.

"Four BSF jawan including an assistant commandment martyred in Chamliyal area". Jitendra Singh hailed from Jaipur, Hansraj Gurjar was from Alwar and Ramniwas from Sikar while Rajneesh Kumar was from Etah in Uttar Pradesh. "Dialogue between Pakistan and India over Kashmir should also resume, so that the long-festering Kashmir dispute is resolved in accordance with United Nations resolutions", he further said in the concluding tweet.

Two days after that, an elderly woman and a minor girl were killed and 24 others were injured in heavy mortar shelling along the Working Boundary in Sialkot district.

J&K witnessed over 700 ceasefire violations this year, starting from January. There has been over 1,200 incidents of ceasefire violation.

A similar truce was agreed upon on May 21, after a wave of ceasefire violations left two BSF jawans and four civilians dead.

After the DGMOs of the two countries spoke to each other, hope rekindled among border residents who had started returning to their homes but the latest incident triggered fresh concerns among them.

BSF immediately swung into action and retaliated in equal measure to silence Pakistani guns.
