Manchester City to start title defence at Arsenal

The 2018-19 fixtures, announced on Thursday morning, handed Pep Guardiola's record-breaking team an Emirates Stadium opener on the weekend of August 11/12.

It is a similar story for neighbours United, who begin at home to Leicester.

Perhaps the most eagerly anticipated game next season will not be the Manchester derby, but the first clash between City and Liverpool at Anfield on October 6.

Their arch-rivals, Liverpool, will also start at home against West Ham, but Chelsea and Tottenham will be going away on the first day of the new campaign.

"Wembley was great for us last season and we are even more used to that than we are the new stadium".

Although the clubs wouldn't normally break out all of the big guns for pre-season friendlies such as these, it could be a good chance to see some of the future stars that could take the Premier League by storm in years to come.

Spurs had been due to host Watford on 1 September, but the Hornets agreed to swap the fixture's venue to Vicarage Road.

Jurgen Klopp's side enjoyed an up-and-down season a year ago as their free-flowing attacking football drove fear into every Premier League defender.
