Meghan opts for Givenchy for day out with the Queen

The earrings the Duchess of Sussex wore on her visit to Cheshire were a touching gift from her new grandmother-in-law, the Queen.

Anyway, Meghan chose to wear Givenchy for their big day out which is no major surprise really, given that the fashion house's creative director Claire Waight-Keller also designed Meghan's first wedding dress.

The Duchess, who married the monarch's grandson in a glittering ceremony at Windsor Castle last month, travelled with the Queen by the royal train to north-west England for a day of events.

This was the first time the Dutchess has attended an engagement without her 33-year-old husband by her side but she seemed to be at ease as she accompanied the queen.

Harper's Bazaar described the duchess's outfit as "the ideal Givenchy dress" for her first joint outing with the head of state, and branded the caped shoulders "divine".

Meghan, in contrast, did not wear a hat, and wore her hair down.

Nearly immediately, they had a chance to level only for Guilhermo Ochoa to push Kroos' free-kick onto the bar with his fingertips. If not for Germany's ability to quickly recover and set their defensive line in order, Mexico could have easily been in front.

Meghan Markle, now known as the Duchess of Sussex, joined Queen Elizabeth for their first royal outing together on Thursday. Mrs Briscoe, said: "I was actually stunned by how attractive she is in the flesh".

The swish Royal Train has nine carriages and Meghan will stay in one of the ensuite bedrooms, and dine in the 12-seater dining room. The Queen made sure that Meghan felt welcomed into the royal family by chatting with her during their visit, and giving her tips on royal protocol as the pair prepared to get into the Monarch's waiting Bentley.

Next, the royal duo will open the Storyhouse Theater in Chester, a walled-off city in Cheshire.

Their first stop featured a performance by local schoolchildren in the town of Widnes, near Liverpool.

And while she can still technically act if she wants to (the interesting reason why, here), the newlywed explained at the time that she was keen to transition into the new phase of her life as a royal duchess.
