The date is set in stone for Samsung's next flagship smartphone launch.

Samsung on Wednesday sent out press invitations for its next Unpacked event.

Samsung is expected to unveil the Galaxy Note 9 at the upcoming Unpacked event in New York City on August 9.

The Galaxy Note8 was nearly flawless phablet, but had some issues with the placement of the fingerprint sensor right beside the camera module, which most often than not, the device owners, in their bid to touch biometric sensor to unlock phone, accidently touched camera lens leaving smudges on it.

Speculation will end in only a few weeks when the event arrives, or in the event that details are leaked prior, as indicated by the past. The other aspects rumored to be a part of this phone include a 3000mAh battery and Android Oreo with Samsung Experience 9.0. Apple usually hosts its iPhone events in September and is expected to do so again this year.

The invite also hints to different colour options for the Galaxy Note's S Pen, which typically only comes in black.

Samsung should be congratulated for providing this update - not many phones that are over two years old will receive updates like this.

Even after the price cut, the Samsung Galaxy A6 is an overpriced device because of the hardware it packs.

It also shows no fingerprint sensor, although one could be embedded under the screen, and no headphone jack.

The invite itself shows what looks to be the Galaxy Note's S Pen, at least an extreme close-up of the button on the side of the stylus.

The submitted device also sports tablet-sized dimensions at 249.3 x 164.3mm, making it slightly taller and thinner than last year's Galaxy Tab S3. Battery issues caused units to spontaneously explode. The physical design of the device is said to remain as that of Galaxy Note 8.

Rumors also suggested the Note 9 would see a launch on august 9.
