A mum in Texas shot a man trying to steal her auto with her two young children inside, according to police. In the vehicle's backseat were her 2- and 4-year-old sons.

She then pulled a gun from her glove box and shot him once in the head.

The suspect crashed into a light pole and was later taken to a local hospital.

Booker-Hicks went on to say that she only fired one shot, but that she would have shot the man repeatedly to protect her family.

The woman, who does not want to be identified according to reports, told a CBS affiliate that she had put the gun in the vehicle hours before the incident.

"I had to do what I had to do to defend what was mine, which are my kids", she told KXAS-TV (NBC5).

Bananas on the brink? Fruit faces extinction risk
Bananas have been grown at Chatsworth since 1830 when head gardener Joseph Paxton propagated a specimen imported from Mauritius. The banana plant grows on the edge of forests, meaning it is vulnerable tin severe weather, forest fires and deforestation.

She went inside, then saw the man get into the auto with her children and start to pull away. He faces two counts of unlawful restraint and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

The Abbeville Police Department says they have arrested 36-year-old Nicholas Wilson of New Iberia in connection with yesterday's fatal stabbing in Abbeville. But before he drove away, the mother jumped into the back of the vehicle herself.

The unnamed woman left her children, aged two and four, inside her SUV as she ran inside a Shell petrol station just after 10pm on Wednesday. The ages of her children also were not made public. Emergency workers took Wright to the hospital where doctors treated him for his gunshot wounds sustained in the carjacking attempt.

Booker-Hicks shot the man in the face, causing him to crash the SUV through a fence.

"I wish I would've killed you, if I didn't already", she said.
