Iceland will close all its 900-plus Iceland and The Food Warehouse stores in the United Kingdom at 2pm on Sunday 15 July if England are playing in the World Cup final that afternoon.

This means you won't be able to pop into either store to impulse purchase some special buys, because both stores have promised staff they can go home at 3pm because "it's coming home".

The move comes with Gareth Southgate's men set to battle it out with Croatia on Wednesday evening (7pm) in the semi final of the tournament.

People have taken to Twitter to ask other supermarkets whether they'll be closing early, but no one has promised anything yet.

Far Cry 5: Lost on Mars DLC releases next week
Lost on Mars will be available as part of the $29.99 / £25.99 / €29.99 season pass, or as an individual purchase. Future content will also offer thematic assets that's going to be added to Far Cry Arcade for free.

"We all have our fingers crossed for an England win tomorrow, and to football coming home at the weekend".

"With the final scheduled to kick off at 4pm on the Sunday afternoon, we want to make sure that, if England make it that far, our team have time to finish work and get home to watch the match, just like everyone else".

The early announcement also gives customers good notice should England reach its second ever World Cup final.

Aldi's announcement is a positive start to the week for the industry following a dire few days for supermarkets last week.
