"Scorpion" debuted on the chart the same week Billboard changed how it counts streaming plays.

Drake and XXXTentacion's popularity is being mirrored in the United States, where the Billboard Hot 100 features seven Drake songs and nine of XXXTentacion's.

All of this comes on the heels of Drake also notching a streaming record.

As many fans know, Drizzy suggested he would leave Cash Money Records in the album's A-side track "Is There More": "Soon as this album drop I'm out of the deal/In the house playin" D'Angelo, "How Does It Feel?'"

Hip hop artist Drake and late rapper XXXTentacion are now dominating New Zealand's Official Top40 Singles Chart, with both artists holding five chart positions.

This is all impressive to be sure. But it wouldn't look like almost as massive a success if not for a relatively recent change in the way the album and singles charts are tallied, and with the marathon length of Scorpion itself.

Waleeporn Gunan talked to the BBC about her husband, who died while trying to rescue the boys from Tham Luang cave. Now he was gone, it was as if she too had died. "But I use pride to repress my sadness", she added.

After becoming the first album to rack in over one billion global streams in its first week of release, Drake's Scorpion isn't done making history yet: Billboard reports that seven of the album's songs are in the top 10 of Billboard Hot 100 chart.

"Scorpion" sold 732,171 equivalent albums - based off album sales and streams - to debut at No. 1 on Billboard's 200 albums chart.

Streaming services in 2017 became the recording industry's biggest single revenue source, overtaking sales of physical albums and digital downloads.

All of this led to something like the Steroids Era for chart positions. The rapper as a total of 27 songs on the Billboard Hot 100 with 25 of them from Scorpion. J. Cole didn't jump on the long-album trend, but Migos and Post Malone did: Culture II has 24 tracks and Beerbongs & Bentleys has 18.

In Canada, six songs reached the Top 10 of the Billboard Canadian Hot 100 chart.
