Let's bring that back, but not before watching the wild teaser trailer for The Favourite, which follows Queen Anne (Olivia Colman) and her advisor Lady Sarah (Rachel Weisz), and how their lives are disrupted by the arrival of Abigail (Emma Stone).

The cast also includes Nicholas Hoult, Joe Alwyn, James Smith, Mark Gatiss.

Given Lanthimos' good standing with the Academy (he was previously nominated for writing the Lobster screenplay), The Favourite is expected to be one of Fox Searchlight's awards players in the months ahead - particularly for its costumes designed by three-time Oscar champion Sandy Powell and the performances of its Academy Award-winning leading ladies.

The Lobster is a divisive film - as weird, demanding, and awkward as it is amusing, briliiantly-acted, and incredibly insightful. Our film reviewer David Crow found it a little too dark to be completely successful in its ambitions.

So what is The Favourite about? Colman stars as Queen Anne, Weisz as her adviser and lover Sarah Churchilll, and Stone as Churchill's younger cousin Abigail, who throws the relationship between Anne and Sarah upside-down. The Favourite is set in the early 18th century when England is at war with the French.

With Anne more concerned about tending to her flocks of ducks rather than governing the country, Sarah the Duchess of Marlborough steps in to take over the political work.

From Searchlight, Film4 and Waypoint Entertainment, The Favourite is produced by Oscar nominee and Cannes Jury Prize victor Lanthimos along with his previous collaborators Ceci Dempsey, Ed Guiney and Lee Magiday. We're inclined to tentatively agree.

Produced by Ceci Dempsey, Ed Guiney, Lee Magiday, and Yorgos Lanthimos, the film arrives in theaters November 23.
