Todd Phillips' Joker origins feature has been officially greenlit by Warner Bros. and will go before the cameras in September. According to insiders, the Oscar-winner will not only will be back for the "Suicide Squad" sequel, Warner also developing his own standalone movie that will be separate from Phoenix's Joker project. Sources say the story will take place in the '80s and have more of the look of a gritty crime drama than comic-book movie.

But now Phoenix has reportedly finalized his deal to play Joker in this untitled standalone, which Phillips-the filmmaker behind The Hangover trilogy and the crime film War Dogs-will direct from a script he co-wrote with Scott Silver.

Phoenix, 43, has previously said he wasn't against taking on the role of the Joker after reports named him as the next actor to personify the sinister comic character.

The S10's camera arrangement will reportedly include a 16-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens with a 120-degree field of view. The Samsung Galaxy S10 Lite will be the entry-level model with watered-down specs of the regular flagship Galaxy S10 .

No official release date has been set, but THR claims the film could be in theaters by late 2019. It's possible the studio makes a confirmation at its Comic-Con panel a week from Saturday, but it's also possible the studio keeps things under wraps for now.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the standalone film was picked up by Warner Bros. and will begin filming in NY this September with Phoenix playing Batman's arch-nemesis.
