"He is 28, the prime age for football, and we have great expectation about what he can achieve with West Ham United".

The Hammers have been in talks with the German club for the past few days, and have finally reached a breakthrough, securing the Ukraine worldwide for a fee of £17.5 million (€20m/$23m).

A near-constant in the gossip columns for the past four or five years at least, the Ukranian has finally arrived in the Premier League - moving to the Hammers from Borussia Dortmund for the princely sum of £17.5million.

One of Yarmolenko's six goals for Dortmund was a screamer against Tottenham Hotspur in the Champions League and fans will be hoping for more of the same when it comes to facing the north Londoners next term. "He has signed a four-year deal".

"Jack also knows the Premier League very well, and I know all our supporters will join me in welcoming them both to the London Stadium".

Yarmolenko's arrival continues new manager Manuel Pellegrini's overhaul of the squad, with midfielder Jack Wilshere, goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski and defenders Issa Diop and Ryan Fredericks joining the club this summer.

West Ham do not appear to be finished there, though, with talks said to be ongoing with Felipe Anderson and Fabian Balbuena, while a £25m bid for Newcastle United skipper Jamaal Lascelles has been knocked back.

While there was initial confusion over whether the club would try to sign both players, they are pressing ahead with negotiations, and there is hope at the club that Yarmolenko and Anderson will be able to feature in the same team.
