The parents of the first four boys to be rescued were allowed to pay bedside visits to their quarantined children on the condition they wear hazmat suits and keep a distance of two meters.

"We were extremely fortunate that the outcome was the way it was".

La Liga said it wanted the 12 boys and their football coach, who form the Wild Boars soccer squad, to "watch many of their football heroes in action in person".

Three in the group had minor lung infections, the senior health official added.

Despite their mostly good health, all the boys need to be observed in the hospital for seven days and then rest at home for another 30 days.

Another new video clip to emerge on Wednesday came from the Thai Navy SEAL team which led the rescue effort, showing them pulling at least one of the boys through the cave on a stretcher, heavily sedated.

The perilous plight of 12 Thai youth soccer players and their coach trapped in a flooded cave for more than two weeks concluded with smiles on Tuesday when divers pulled the last of five remaining team members from the darkness. "You have to ensure when you go in you have a way out", Master Sergeant Anderson said.

Later this week, the Discovery Channel will be airing a one-hour documentary chronicling the team's weekslong ordeal: "Operation Thai Cave Rescue" premieres at 10 p.m. ET/PT on July 13.

Rescue chief Narongsak Osottanakorn told reporters today that the entire operation would not have been possible without the unique skills that Harris brought to the mission, though he did not elaborate.

Scott said his wife was a friend of volunteer rescue diver Saman Kunan, the former Thai navy SEAL who died last week after falling unconscious while placing oxygen tanks deep inside the cave.

They had been exploring the Tham Luang Nang Non cave complex in northern Thailand on June 23 when heavy rains and rising floodwaters blocked the team's path, leaving the group unable to get out. He lauded the cooperation between Thai and worldwide rescuers.

Here are some of the heroes who took part in the rescue mission.

Each of the boys, ages 11 to 16 and with no diving experience, was guided out by divers though rocky, muddy and water passages that in places were just a crawl space.

The soccer teammates rescued from a flooded cave in Thailand lost weight during their 18-day ordeal and in the days before their discovery survived by drinking water dripping into their refuge, a health official said Wednesday. However, the first four boys were safely brought out of the cave on Sunday, tethered to rescue divers.

He did not say if the coach, the only adult with the boys for nine days before they found, was able to dive and walk out unaided.

"That was just in the very beginning of the cave and at that point we realised this problem is going to be much more complex than we thought".
