But before gettting to all the Notepadness, it's worth noting that Microsoft has, as of Build 17713, released July 11, now forked Redstone 5 into its own branch, in preparation for the next Windows 10 feature release.

Despite having been made obsolete by other text editors, Microsoft has chose to finally give Notepad some long-overdue love.

Notepad has been a core tool within Windows since it started being bundled with the OS in 1985.

Updates support for the draft version of the Token Binding protocol v0.16. With express updates, only the Windows 10 software changes (or "differentials") will get delivered to an organization's computing environment from Microsoft's content delivery network. Notepad still has not changed all that much over the past three decades. You can refer to our tutorials on how to create bootable USB drive and how to do a fresh Windows 10 installation.

The latest Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 17713 bring a pack of surprises for Windows users.

Notepad remembers previous states of selected options when you use the find and replace functionality.

In addition, the find/replace dialog box will automatically search for text that is highlighted in Notepad.

Microsoft goes cheap on the Surface
In terms of connectivity, the device supports WiFi connectivity (802.11 a/b/g/n/a) and an LTE-compatible version is in the works. Microsoft only provides 64GB of storage, though you can expand your storage with the microSD card slot present on the device.

The status bar is now visible at the bottom of Notepad by default.

You can now also look up definitions for words in Reading View, Books, and PDFs, and you can also choose to have the words read aloud in order to hear the correct pronunciation.

There's also a new "Web Sign-In" feature that enables Windows logon support for non-ADFS federated providers, such as SAML.

Microsoft's announcement explained that delta updates tended to have larger file sizes (around 300MB to 500MB) than express updates because the delta updates have "the full component (not just the individual files)".

You may use the shortcut Ctrl-Backspace to delete the last word. Also, when saving files, the line and column numbers will remain as they are instead of being reset to one. For those with small screens and lower resolutions, long lines that do not fit onto the screen will now be properly displayed.

That means in an Azure Active Directory and Active Directory you can authenticate a remote desktop session using biometrics. It still lacks many useful features found in other free text editors but is admittedly getting a little better. However, consumer editions have reached the end of support and today's update is only available for Windows 10 Enterprise and Windows 10 Education editions.
