All going well with the medical, the deal should be confirmed by Liverpool soon after - allowing Shaqiri to join up with his new teammates on their pre-season tour of the United States.

Thoughts at Lazio have now firmly turned towards who could be roped in to replace Anderson at the Stadio Olimpico.

Xherdan Shaqiri will complete a medical at Melwood on Friday as the Switzerland attacker nears a £13.5 million move to Liverpool from Stoke City.

Liverpool are claimed to have already agreed the outlines of a contract with Shaqiri and are now looking to thrash out a fee with Stoke.

Former Catalan leader Puigdemont can be extradited, German court rules
A German court chose to allow former Catalonian leader Carles Puigdemont's extradition to Spain for misuse of public funds. They could not be reached for further comment by phone and did not answer an email query.

Shaqiri is now on holiday following his participation at the World Cup as the Liverpool FC squad returned for pre-season training last week.

It is unclear whether Shaqiri would consider a move to Lazio given Liverpool's interest.

Jürgen Klopp is signing the former Bayern Munich winger as cover for Sadio Mané and Mo Salah as the Champions League final painfully exposed how little depth the Reds have up front. Following Stoke's relegation to the Championship, the 26-year-old expressed a desire to remain in Premier League and recently stated it is "no secret" he will leave the bet365 Stadium.

Jurgen Klopp has identified the Swiss star as a player who he'd like to sign and as such, he'll become the third player to arrive at the Reds this summer, after midfield duo Fabinho and Naby Keita.
