Manchester United have stepped up talks to sign Gareth Bale from Real Madrid as mass exodus has now hit the Spanish giants.

Bale, according to Manchester Evening News, was considering his future at the Bernabeu and revealed after Madrid's win against Liverpool in the Champions League final that he would decide this summer whether or not to quit the club.

Bale admitted immediately after his matchwinning cameo that he would consider his options having grown frustrated at his inability to cement a regular first team starting position.

But as he prepares to return to Real for pre-season, Bale says he will hold talks with his agent over future soon.

"Maybe I'll be staying here [at Real Madrid], maybe not". I have to talk to my agent.

The Real Madrid star has won four Champions League titles, the La Liga crown and the Copa del Rey trophy since his £85.3m move from Tottenham Hotspur in the 2013 summer transfer window.

Manchester Evening News, as quoted by Metro, is reporting that Manchester United turned down the chance to re-sign Cristiano Ronaldo in favour of a move to sign the Wales global.

Mourinho has already signed three new faces this summer but United know they need to further strengthen if they're to catch Man City and Bale's quality could add the spark that was missing in the final third at times last season.

Bale, meanwhile, insists he has hardly watched back his stunning performance in Kiev, which included a stunning overhead kick that came just minutes after his introduction. I went on vacation and switched off'.
