Mr Avenatti wrote: "This was a setup & politically motivated".

"It reeks of desperation", he tweeted. "We will fight all bogus charges", Avenatti said.

When reached by CNN, Avenatti confirmed that the information he tweeted is accurate.

Daniels hasn't posted anything on her own social media pages yet, but released a statement Thursday morning through her lawyer, Michael Avenatti.

Police said Thursday they've made numerous arrests under a law regarding illegal sexually oriented activity in a sexually oriented business. She was charged under an OH law that makes it illegal for "an employee who regularly appears nude or seminude" to touch non-family members "on the premises of a sexually oriented business".

After her "Make America Horny Again" show, undercover officers approached Daniels and said she would be arrested for allowing the patron to touch her.

TooFab (via TMZ) obtained a copy of the arresting documents, which indicate that at least one female officer was posing as a patron at the club. "My client was subsequently taken into custody". She is due in court on Friday.

A spokesman for the Franklin County sheriff's office could find no instances in which the 2007 law had been used, he told the newspaper.

Sanju: Nargis Dutt's last message for her son will melt your heart
Earlier before the release of the film, the makers had shared a video in which Ranbir Kapoor was seen as Munna Bhai. Sadly, Nargis Dutt died on May 3, 1981, just 3 days before Sanjay Dutt's first film, Rocky's , premiere.

Representatives for the Columbus Division of Police did not immediately respond to ABC News' request for comment.

While Daniels was performing Wednesday night at Sirens, a strip club in Columbus, some patrons touched her in a "non-sexual" way, Avenatti told The Associated Press.

"Are you kidding me?" he asked.

"It was an absurd use of law enforcement resources", Avenatti said. "There has to be higher priorities!" Two other performers, Brittany Walters and Miranda Panda, were also arrested and face charges similar to Daniels.

Daniels, who claims to have had sex with President Donald Trump in 2006 when he was married, is suing the president and his former personal lawyer Michael Cohen over a nondisclosure agreement she signed to keep quiet on the alleged affair.

Through White House officials, Trump has denied the affair, although Cohen has admitted paying Daniels $130 000 as part of the agreement.

She is trying to free herself from a non-disclosure agreement signed before the election, and suing over a "defamatory" tweet by the USA president earlier this year.
