Manchester United have no plans at the moment to rekindle their interest in Tottenham Hotspur centre-back Toby Alderweireld.

Manchester United opened talks with Tottenham earlier in the summer for the Belgian but balked at the financial demands Spurs chairman Daniel Levy made.

According to the same article, Manchester United have looked at other players recently but Tottenham have since indicated that a deal for the defender could be done this summer.

The Brazilian reportedly impressed the Blaugrana bosses when the two sides met in the UEFA Champions League round of 16 last season, and feel he would be a great addition to their squad.

The transfer window closes on August 9th this summer, which is on the eve of the new campaign, so United have just under four weeks to get the proposed transfer over the line before the summer window slams shut.

The 29-year-old defender has been on the shortlist of Manchester United defensive targets this summer and he is said to be angling for a move away from Spurs.

The Belgian global is now free to resolve his future after helping his country secure third place at the World Cup with a 2-0 win over England on Saturday afternoon so we could see developments with United over the coming days.
