Football didn't quite finish its voyage home, as far as England are concerned at least, but most fans of the Three Lions have spent the aftermath of Saturday's third place playoff defeat against Belgium praising the spirit of Gareth Southgate's men.

Kane's goals drying up was ultimately a big factor in England not reaching their first World Cup final since 1966.

France strikers Antoine Griezmann and Kylian Mbappe have both scored three times so far in Russian Federation.

"No, to be honest, because I said we go into every competition to win", Kane told ITV.

Canizales, Mthalane triumph in Pacquiao-Matthysse undercard
Pacquiao is almost 40 years old and feels this fight will be the deciding factor on whether or not he continues to fight again. While Matthysse looked for one big punch with his right hand, Pacquiao methodically broke him down.

Not too long after Kieran Trippier had given England a dream start with a wonderful fifth minute free-kick that David Beckham would have been proud of, Kane was cleverly played through one-on-one by Jesse Lingard and you would have put your house on him tucking it away. It's disappointing we have not won the game.

"We closed it for sure (the gap to best top teams)". But today shows and other games show there's still room for improvement.

"On the verge of becoming the second Englishman to win the Golden Boot, Kane has still faced scrutiny for netting just once in the knockout stages". But football fans on Twitter have been analysing this crucial moment in the game and we now know that Croatian goalkeeper Daniel Subasic got the slightest of touches to deflect the shot onto the post.

"Obviously I'm disappointed I couldn't get a goal in the last few games", added the Tottenham Hotspur striker.
