Deadpool 2 Star Zazie Beetz is in talks to join the cast of the Joker Origin Movie, which stars Joaquin Phoenix as the Clown Prince of Crime. That is, if it keeps that release date!

THR reports that Beetz is indeed in talks to star in Joker as "a single mother who catches the interest of the man" who would one day become the Joker.

Joaquin Phoenix's spinoff about the Joker now has a title and release date. The film will be released on October 4, 2019, with production set to begin in NY in September.

Joker begins filming this fall in NY and arrives in theaters on October 4, 2019.

With that said: DC Universe launches in the fall, and is now available to pre-order at $74.99 for a yearly membership or $7.99/month.

The Joker origin movie centers around the iconic arch nemesis and is an original, standalone story not seen before on the big screen. Taxi Driver and The King of Comedy are reportedly where the project is drawing its inspiration from. Hey, if you're gonna do that, then Joaquin Phoenix is the flawless man to play the role. Like Alan Moore and artist Brian Bolland's famous comic The Killing Joke, this 1980s-set movie will portray the Joker as a failed comedian. The actor believed that the part had been played too many times by too many good actors over the years.

Joker is being directed by serious crime auteur Martin Scorcese, promising DC Comics fans a much darker adaptation of their favourite painted-faced villain.

Jared Leto's portrayal of The Joker in Suicide Squad was met with a lack of enthusiasm, but Joaquin Phoenix may be just the man to pull the Joker out of his slump.
