The president's most recent comments about the press come after he was criticized by news editorial boards, lawmakers and others for appearing to accept Putin's "strong" and "powerful" denial on Russia's 2016 USA election meddling over the assessment of the American intelligence community.

US President Donald Trump's meeting with Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin resulted in a "really good" outcome for Israel, the president told Fox News of the Helsinki Summit yesterday.

Amid the backlash, the president later said he misspoke when he cited Putin's "extremely strong and powerful" denial of Russian meddling - despite the conclusions by USA intelligence services.

"The Summit with Russian Federation was a great success, except with the real enemy of the people, the Fake News Media", he tweeted. The White House later said the U.S. president had been saying "no" to further questions from reporters and that the threat to the United States electoral system "still exists".

Netanyahu released a video commending "the abiding commitment of the USA and President Donald Trump to the security of Israel, as expressed at the meeting between President Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin". "I have President Putin".
