Anthony Anderson Under Criminal Investigation for Assault, Denies Allegation

"Black-ish" star Anthony Anderson is now under criminal investigation by the Los Angeles Police Department.

No further details regarding the incident have been made public.

The actor subsequently denied any wrongdoing through a spokesperson on Friday.

Anderson, 47, is best known for portraying Andre Johnson on the ABC sitcom Black-ish, and as the host of the game show To Tell The Truth.

Anderson issued a statement through a rep that says: "It's unfortunate that anyone can file a police report whether it is true or false".

The alleged victim filed a police report against the star earlier this year, claiming he assaulted her during a meeting about future business opportunities in 2017, according to The Blast. The Blast said it was told the incident happened over a year ago, after the woman met the actor at his event. "Anthony unequivocally disputes the claim". Apparently, the woman finally felt comfortable enough to come forward with these accusations against Anderson in some part due to the #MeToo movement, sources added.

He and an assistant director were accused of raping an extra on the set of the 2004 film "Hustle & Flow", but the charges were later dropped because the testimony didn't produce probable cause.
