Dallas County Reports First West Nile Virus Death Of The Year

The Chatham-Kent Public Health Unit says mosquitoes collected from three traps last week in Dresden, Blenheim, and northwest Chatham have tested positive for West Nile Virus. No other details about the victim were released. The department stressed that West Nile is a preventable disease and that wearing insect repellant outdoors is a must. Symptoms include: fever, headache and muscle aches.

Wear long, loose and light-colored clothing.

Lambton Public Health is encouraging residents to continue taking usual precautions to avoid mosquitoes and bites, as well as reducing mosquito breeding grounds around properties by eliminating standing water.
