Captain Jim Furyk met with the media at the PGA Championship at Bellerive on Wednesday to talk about how his team is shaping up for the Ryder Cup at Le Golf National in France, Sept. 28-30.

The Holywood star has won two US PGA titles since 2012 and he knows that if he continues to put himself in contention as he has done all season, the door may finally open for him at Bellerive Country Club where "quintessential target golf" will be the order of the day. My knee used to hurt a lot, but I could play around that.

"I was probably a little more anxious a year ago", said Spieth.

He's yet to win since Royal Birkdale, the missed cuts becoming too frequent for comfort.

Woods briefly led the British Open on Sunday but shared sixth last month at Carnoustie, while Fleetwood shared 12th.

He followed that with three rounds in the 70s at the Bridgestone Invitational last week, leaving him a full 20 shots off the pace - and outside the top 20 for the eighth consecutive event.

"So there's going to be quite a few guys trying to get out there to play, and I'm going to be one of them". It's also the first Championship for Tiger Woods since 2015.

Bubba Watson, another three-time victor this year, Jordan Spieth, Rickie Fowler and THE PLAYERS Championship victor Webb Simpson round out the top eight.

Number 10 Tony Finau shared how much faith and his family play in his performance on the golf course.

Three different golfers - Patrick Reed, Brooks Koepka and Francesco Molinari - have claimed the first three majors of the year, so golf's fourth and final major is as wide-open as ever.

Guardiola not expecting any more Manchester City signings
Leicester City will face Manchester United at Old Trafford in the opening round of fixtures in the 2018/19 Premier League.

He added: "Even though he's won 14 of these things, you still, if you haven't done it for a while, you still have to re-learn a few things, and I think he's going through that stage".

But on Tuesday it was Thomas Bjørn, with four captain's picks for his European squad to take on the United States in Paris next month, who was quizzed about Woods. I've gone from zero to basically 20th in seven months.

His beloved grandfather, Bob Julius, and most of his mother's side of the family was raised in the St. Louis area.

18-time major champion Jack Nicklaus holds the record of most major appearances with 164 starts between 1957 and 2005, ahead of Gary Player (150) and Tom Watson (145).

When Woods was told of Bjorn's comments and asked if he believes that, he said with a smile, "I like my chances in match play".

It would be even more fun to make history in front of them.

"I feel like I'm close and closing in", said the world number 11.

"He's been a model and an idol for me growing up, and it's nice to see him back playing good golf, and hopefully we'll be paired together late on Sunday again this week".

"I just wrote a little text saying, boy, I saw you got the bad end of the stick on the pairings this week, and he just-you know, a little smiley face came back on the text".
