MI coach John Beilein had a successful double bypass procedure, according to the university.

Beilein, who's expected to fully recover, should be released from the hospital later this week.

Last season, Beilein and MI worked their way to a 33-8 record before ultimately falling short in the national championship game to Villanova.

Pagani said Beilein underwent a two-vessel coronary bypass graft surgery.

Jolie and Pitt met in 2003 and Wednesday in 2014 but separated in September 2016 citing irreconcilable differences. Jolie filed for divorce almost two years ago, claiming the separation was "for the health of the family".

Dr. Francis D. Pagani, who performed the procedure, explained the surgery is created to improve blood flow to the heart. Assistant coach Saddi Washington is serving as U-M's interim head coach as Beilein recovers. He plans to be on the sideline November 6 when MI opens the 2018-19 season against Norfolk State in Ann Arbor.

Thankfully, Beilein is expected to make a full and healthy recovery. "This university community is remarkably interconnected - from doctors, to professors, to our coaches". The school announced this Tuesday morning, noting that it was a scheduled procedure and that it took place at the University of Michigan's Frankel Cardiovascular Center. "Kathleen, and our family appreciate all of the world-class care that was provided for us. All of us within the Athletic Department can not wait for John's return".

With Beilein's recovery he will not attend the Wolverines trip to Spain, Aug. 17-26. August is normally the slowest month of the year for coaches.

Beilein says in a statement that he's going to work very hard to be "stronger than ever" by the start of practice for the coming season. He has led the Wolverines to eight NCAA tournament appearances including trips to the national title game in 2013 and 2018.
