Ant McPartlin confirms he will NOT return to our screens next year

It's the first time the show will be hosted without McPartlin sine it began in 2002.

Production and filming for a Saturday Night Takeaway series in February would normally have already started, and continue throughout 2018 and early 2019.

Following on from this news, Dec also made a statement and it's a touching show of support for his "best friend".

Ant - who has recently spent time in a rehabilitation facility - said in a statement: "My recovery is going very well and for that to continue having spoken to Dec and ITV, I have made the decision to take the rest of the year off". Both shows have been remade in the US, I'm A Celebrity was remade for NBC, while Neil Patrick Harris presented Best Time Ever, a remake of Saturday Night Takeaway, for the same network.

ITV bosses are set to make an announcement about their plans for the upcoming "I'm A Celebrity" series "in due course". ITV will not be putting him under any pressure to come back unless he's well and fit enough to return'.

He was banned from the road for 20 months and fined £86,000 after pleading guilty to driving while more than twice the legal limit.

The Geordie star entered rehab following his conviction, and has since been seen out and about with new girlfriend Anne-Marie Corbett and sporting an Alcoholics Anonymous tattoo.

"It's a show they're hugely passionate about personally and they're extremely close to the team involved too - but everyone understands that this is a decision which hasn't been taken lightly and are supportive".
