YouTube Signature Devices are handsets with the best YouTube watching experience

Just in case you were wondering, these are the phones that have the honor of being designated a Signature Device.

The YouTube Signature Devices program addresses the hardware and software features that YouTube considers vital to provide the best experience.

So, how can a smartphone be certified as a Signature Device? Support for high frame rate (anything greater than 60 frames per second) means you get super smooth video playback. In fact, unlike numerous other devices recommended by YouTube, the iPhone X also features a stereo speaker setup. However, the one thing that the iPhone does not feature is VP9 codec. The possible explanation here is that iPhones lack support for VP9 codec due to which they are incapable of playing back 4K videos in Safari. However, given that YouTube has a mobile app for iOS and most users watch YouTube videos using the app itself, this restriction is not really a big deal.
