Idris Elba as James Bond is a rumour that's been around for years, nearly as long as that one about Quentin Tarantino directing a "Star Trek" movie.

The actor drove his fans into a frenzy by posting: "my name's Elba, Idris Elba", along with a selfie.

His tweet was retweeted thousands of times by excited followers.

The 45-year-old Elba, best known for his roles in the critically acclaimed HBO series The Wire as well as Luther and Star Trek, is no stranger to the rumors. You need a guy with physically strong presence.

"I mean what do we have to do here?"

The online version of the Daily Star's story includes multiple promotions for Fuqua's new business, selling headphones that can be worn in the cinema in order to provide a surround-sound experience.

Curran pulled Mohammed Shami for six before his 49-ball 40 ended when he sliced Hardik Pandya to Shami at third man. Anderson followed up by trapping KL Rahul lbw for 10 with a ball that came back off the seam into the right-hander.

Twitter reacted to his post with a host of memes, including a photoshopped President Trump holding up a picture of Elba and announcing him as the new Bond, and a proud looking Sean Connery punching the air.

"He never had a conversation with Barbara about the franchise or about any casting", they told the industry magazine. "Not sure how it got started", stated the rep.

A representative for Elba declined to comment, but a "knowledgeable source" said no one from Elba's team was "aware of any overtures".

In 2014, Elba said of the potential role that it would be "an honor".

He is already signed on to play the character in the 25th Bond film, which is due out in late 2019 and will be directed by Danny Boyle.
