Tiger charges into the hunt as Koepka grabs lead at 100th PGA

Round 2 of the 2018 PGA Championship will conclude in the morning after rain halted play Friday afternoon. In other words, at least he's somewhere in the arena. His 68 leaves him 5 under and tied 21st. You can see his updated scorecard right here.

The 28-year-old is 18 holes away from winning three of the last seven majors, not bad considering he missed one of those Grand Slam stops earlier this year when he was rehabbing a wrist injury during the Masters. Players try to downplay it, and I've downplayed it over the years myself because you're trying to downplay it yourself a little bit, but it's a pretty intense environment out there.

"This golf course is stacked right now, and everyone is bunched", he said. He drove his ball in the trees at the par-4 12th hole, then tried a risky recovery shot through a narrow gap that ricocheted, taking triple bogey that flatly knocked him out of contention. Koepka is seeking to become only the fifth player to win the U.S. Open and the PGA Championship in the same year, and the list he would join is formidably elite: Gene Sarazen in 1922, Ben Hogan in 1948, Jack Nicklaus in 1980 and Woods in 2000. He just found a way to bury his friend, playing partner and the world's top player, Johnson, and in doing so won the same tournament at 1 over that he won at 16 under the year before. Then play was suspended and the day got weird.

Woods sank a 17-foot birdie putt on the first hole and dropped his 145-yard approach at the second to four feet with a 9-iron to set up a birdie.

He did just that over the first nine holes, making five birdies on the front nine on the way to a 31 that drew him within two of the lead. Francesco Molinari zoomed on past him.

This tie for sixth at the Open Championship marked his fourth result this season of T-6 or better.

But Woods could turn it only so far. The Ryder Cup appears to be another bonus sitting on Woods' plate these days. Finau is No. 13 in the standings and this is the last week to earn one of the eight automatic spots. Woods struggled early in his first round with a couple bogies. And we can't see where it lands into the shade, but when it landed the crowd started cheering and then it rolled in and they went mental and it kind of reverberated back to the tee and then I just went insane. "Another five and you're basically wheeling me out to pasture, at that point".

"It would be more than twice the thrill for me, but I think no matter who wins tomorrow I think if that person has met Jarrod Lyle, then they will have felt something with him passing this week", Scott said.

"The greens were getting fuzzy, they're getting slow, and I didn't hit the putts quite hard enough, " Woods said.

At the British Open, he shot 34 over the front nine in the final round to briefly get into the lead.

Woods continued to give himself opportunities with some solid play between tee to green, but was unable to convert any of the birdie chances in a run of 10 straight pars. He flashed that devilish smile.

"I like my chances in match play", he said.
