Vaan, meet Mario: of all the highlights and reveals from Nintendo's much-anticipated, earthquake-delayed Nintendo Direct event Thursday, none had more of a mic-drop feel than the surprising news that nearly all the mainline Final Fantasy games from the PlayStation's golden era will soon be making their home on the Nintendo Switch. Unbeknownst to Noctis, however, the journey ahead is fraught with perils... What this essentially is, is a bunch of multiplatform Final Fantasy goodness, the majority of it being titles that were already on PlayStation platforms making their way to the Nintendo Switch and Xbox One.

These are remasters of the original versions - so not the upcoming remake of Final Fantasy VII - but it will be the first time any of them have been on a Nintendo console. The game supports two-player co-op.

In addition to Final Fantasy XV Pocket Edition HD and Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles, fans can expect to see Final Fantasy VII, Final Fantasy IX, Final Fantasy X / X-2 HD Remaster, Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age, World of Final Fantasy Maxima and Chocobo's Mystery Dungeon Every Buddy.

In the meantime, it's also unclear why Final Fantasy 8 wasn't included in the lineup.

Of course, that's just speculation at this time.

World of Final Fantasy Maxima will lead the charge with its release on the Xbox One on November 6th.
