How to download iOS 12 on your iPhone right now

If you're considering buying any of the fancy new iPhones that Apple announced on Wednesday, and you're already an iPhone user, wait until iOS 12 releases before making a purchase decision.

Technically, you'll be downloading the beta version of iOS 12 that Apple released earlier this summer.

As you can imagine, mileage will vary depending on the age of the device, the number of apps and amount of data installed on the hardware, and the general wear and tear that has been placed on the device over the course of its lifetime.

So, perhaps don't rush into the new iPhones right away. But what are the mobile devices and tablets on which it may be coming?

All supported devices, starting from the iPhone 5S and newer as well as from iPad Air and newer will be getting the iOS 12 stable updates.

Making things more interesting, there's also a speed test of iOS 12 GM vs iOS 9.3 and iOS 10.3.

The OS version is now faster is it is claimed to have up to 70% faster swipe to Camera, up to 50% faster keyboard display and double the speed of app launch under heavy working conditions.

To sign up for the public beta you will need to visit on your iOS device, and log in with your iCloud account. It can also be used in Messages and FaceTime.

Most interestingly, Mojave also debuts the first UIKit-made on macOS in the form of Apple's own Home, News and Stocks apps. For parents, iOS 12 lets them set specific app usage time in the device for kids.

A new "Screen Time" tool generates activity reports showing how often people pick up their iPhones or iPads, how long they spend in apps or at websites, and numbers of notifications received. Having spent 48 hours with an iPhone X running iOS 12 GM, I have to admit that things are very snappy for me.
