A coffee shop located in Toronto, called Grinder Coffee, launched a 10-day campaign on social media to get the La La Land actor to visit their shop while he's in town for the Toronto Film Festival.

And while Ryan did show up, the coffee shop revealed that they did the same thing in 2017 but were hoping for a visit from Idris Elba but he was a no show. Ryan is in town to promote his movie First Man at the Toronto International Film Festival. In it he plays astronaut Neil Armstrong, the first American to walk on the moon.

We need to rapidly shift away from our dependence on fossil fuels. This year is shaping up to be the fourth hottest, he said. In fact, the opposite is true".

It all started when coffee shop owner, Joelle Murray, chose to invite a thespian dreamboat to her local cafe, Grinder Coffee (just 20 minutes outside Toronto) during TIFF. While Gosling reportedly thought the campaign was "quite amusing", according to Murray it was actually his mother who convinced him to visit. What a gracious well brought up Canadian boy. That campaign failed, though, a fact that Murray couldn't help but mention in her photo with Gosling, writing, "Take that Idris Elba your loss!" He was just here for a few minutes.

"He made it seem that he enjoyed meeting me as much as I enjoyed meeting him", said Murray, who estimates Gosling popped in for about two minutes to greet her and a handful of patrons. "He actually (saw) all the posts and thought they were quite amusing".
