Umpires reportedly considering boycott of Serena Williams matches

Many people, looking at Serena Williams's actions during the US Open women's final last week, remembered of John McEnroe who often argued with umpires during his career. To get called in a Grand Slam final was perhaps a bit tight, but I think the reaction was pretty overboard. "Will the rules change in Serena's matches?". [It] was, in my opinion, maybe unnecessary.

For what was Serena Williams penalised? Osaka also named Williams as one of her idols and understandably was very happy to have the 23-time Grand Slam champion's blessing despite the controversial outcome.

Watching the women's final between Williams and Naomi Osaka from his Atlanta home, Aaron saw Williams react angrily when chair umpire Carlos Ramos warned her about receiving coaching, something that happens commonly in tennis but is rarely sanctioned. That made Williams even more upset, and she berated Ramos repeatedly. "He's never taken a game from a man because they said 'thief". "I also could sympathize, because I've been a fan of Serena my whole life, and I knew how badly the crowd wanted her to win".

Williams' accusation of sexism has been backed by The Women's Tennis Association (WTA) and the United States Tennis Association (USTA), and this has seemingly upset a core group of umpires, according to The Times.

Osaka, 20, of Japan, said that Williams, 36, told her she was proud of her.

At least nine nuclear facilities also lie in the storm's path, including Duke Energy's Brunswick nuclear plant in North Carolina. Brunswick Nuclear Plant and Shearon Harris Nuclear Plant are the closest to where the superstorm will strike, Green added.

Murray, the US Open mixed doubles champion, does not subscribe to this view and believes all players are treated equally.

Djokovic did not necessarily agree with Simon's assessment of Saturday night's controversy. "She's passionate. She was speaking out and I think for Ramos, he was a little defensive at that point, and was fed up as opposed to saying, 'Okay, let's get back to business, '" Adams said.

In US Open championships featuring the 23-Grand Slam victor, viewership has been nearly double that reported for the men's final. It's hard to generalise things, really.

Osaka, the 20-year-old who beat Williams in straight sets in the NY final, has signed on as a brand ambassador for Nissan, a move that shows both her worldwide appeal to fans and her value to advertisers. Navratilova said, "It wasn't the right time to bring it up", and that she would have expected to face similar penalties for acting as Williams did.
