Volvo halts production in SC as hurricane closes in

Governor Ralph Northam issued an evacuation order for about 245,000 residents in flood-prone coastal Virginia beginning at 8 a.m. local time while South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster has ordered more than 1 million residents along his state's coastline to leave starting at noon on Tuesday.

Hurricane Florence has yet to make landfall but has already claimed two college football games in North Carolina.

A state of emergency being declared in North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia. "Please be prepared, be careful and be SAFE!" The storm's first effects were already apparent on barrier islands as unsafe rip currents hit beaches and seawater flowed over a state highway.

The massive hurricane is closing in on the Carolinas and Virginia and could cause disastrous weather as far as Pennsylvania and Ohio. As for travelers, airlines serving destinations in Florence's projected path have started waiving change fees and are expecting widespread delays and cancellations. "The better the predictions are, the earlier the right people will be warned".
