John Kerry blasts Pres. Trump's withdrawal from Paris climate pact

Kerry on Friday called Trump's withdrawal from the 2015 Paris deal the "single greatest act of irresponsibility of any President of the United States at any time".

More than 80,000 buses run on the streets of these 26 cities, representing a major shift towards zero emission vehicles in the world's great cities.

Tokyo, Seoul and Rotterdam, meanwhile, joined Paris, London, Barcelona and Mexico City in vowing to run only electric buses by 2025.

The preview coincides with what has been dubbed "the biggest moment for climate action since the Paris Agreement, ' to highlight progress being made around the five GCAS 'challenge areas": Healthy Energy Systems, Inclusive Economic Growth, Land and Ocean Stewardship, Sustainable Communities and Transformative Investments.

Originally called the "NAZCA Portal" - named after the ancient lines in Peru and launched by the Peruvian Government back in 2014 - the Climate Action portal was subsequently enshrined in the text of the Paris Agreement as the official portal to showcase the contributions of the so-called "non-Party stakeholders".

Giuseppe Sala, the mayor of Milan, Italy, talked up plans to reduce waste from food and other sources.

Speaking on the same occasion, former U.S. Vice President Al Gore praised China's active and leading role in taking action against global climate change.

Bloomberg noted that the US reduced carbon emissions more than any other large nation since 2000, as 27 cities announced they had reached their goals of decreasing their emissions to prevent catastrophic global warming in 2020.

Trump announced past year that he was withdrawing from the l climate accord.

"This is real and we will take action even if Washington doesn't", said Los Angeles mayor Eric Garcetti. "I think he'll be remembered, on the path he's now? I don't know. Liar, criminal, fool", the governor said.

CEO Marc Benioff announced that Salesforce and 20 technology companies have signed a pact to "decarbonize" by reducing greenhouse gas emissions worldwide through supply chains, regulations and customer efforts.

Salesforce recently opened a 61-story office tower in San Francisco that it says relies on clean energy to operate.

'Brown had tough words for Trump, who yanked the USA out of the landmark Paris Agreement and is trying to rescind California's right to set its own vehicle emissions standard.

Entertainment and electronics giant Sony Corporation committed this week to running its global operations only with renewable energy, joining more than 140 multinationals - three-quarters of them having pledged to do so before 2030. The eight warmest years in more than a century of record keeping have all been in the past 13 years.
