Manchester City may have struck three past Fulham, but Fabian Delph insists the champions need to be even more ruthless.

The winger was left out of the squad for City's last game ahead of the global break against Newcastle United, but Pep Guardiola was delighted with his performance as City maintained the pressure on early leaders Chelsea and Liverpool.

Fernandinho pounced on a terrible pass from Jean Michael Seri and drove forward, greeting Sane's return by gifting him a simple finish.

Bernardo Silva dazzled with sublime close control before playing in Sterling - a combination of Bettinelli and his crossbar denying the England winger.

Schurrle kept Ederson busy with another sharp strike from the edge of the area which needed to be tipped over, but City were back up the other end in a heartbeat and Sane nearly doubled his personal tally moments later when his shot was denied by Bettinelli.

The win takes them in the top-half and puts their objective for a European spot at the least on track thanks to Wilfred Zaha's first half effort.

"He show us many times in the last years, especially last season, and today he played again so good".

Sane, last season's PFA Young Player of the Year, has yet to start a game this term and has been handed just 30 minutes of action from the bench.

Germany teammate Toni Kroos praised Sane's quality following his shock omission from the World Cup squad, but claimed that his body language made it appear as if he didn't care if he won or lost.

"City wanted me", Silva recalls.

Fulham's commitment to attack might have panned out very differently had Seri not set their downfall in motion with his second-minute gift.

Manchester City are increasingly hopeful that injured superstar Kevin De Bruyne will be back in time for November's big game against Manchester United, the Daily Star Sunday reports. He finished good the first half and the second half started a little bit uncomfortable.

City return to Premier League duty next Saturday when they make the trip to fellow top-flight new-boys Cardiff.

Despite showing no signs of slowing down in the Premier League, the former Spanish global only has two more seasons left on his contract at the Etihad, and admits he isn't sure of what his next move will be, despite the constant links with a return to his hometown club, Las Palmas.

- Leroy Sane has had a hand in 18 goals in his last 16 Premier League games at the Etihad Stadium (6 goals, 12 assists).
