Liverpool continued their ideal start to the season to stay top of the Premier League after a goal in each half gave them a 2-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley on Saturday.

Jurgen Klopp's side ended their poor run at Wembley after goals from Gini Wijnaldum and Roberto Firmino handed the Reds victory.

Erik Lamela got one back for Tottenham in stoppage-time, but it was too late to rescue an undeserved draw.

Liverpool were less affected by the demands of World Cup action than their title rivals and it has shown in their fine start to the season with four straight Premier League wins to sit top of the table.

But Reds boss Klopp, a victor at Wembley for the first time, wants to see his men produce a sustained spell of excellence before he agrees with that sentiment.

"If we do it the same way, I will be on the phone to say, 'Houston, we have a problem, ' " Pochettino said.

"Of course, if it is good it is good, and not good, not good".

Firmino wrapped up Liverpool's fifth successive win soon after the interval when the Brazil forward tapped in after more sloppy defending and another Vorm misjudgement. It's a long season.

Hazard's display drew glowing praise from Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri, who said: "He can become maybe the best player in Europe in the next two years".

Kane, who was the second-highest scorer in the league behind Salah last season, looks in need of a break to rest and recover a tired body.

Liverpool blitzed Spurs early, creating two chances in the first three minutes with an opening goal being pulled back for Sadio Mané attempting a touch in an offside position. I like that development. "Today I think the attitude was very good".

He says, "This method was never done with previous hurricanes because other jurisdictions know how many people were killed". Puerto Ricans in CT said they are infuriated at the president for downplaying the severity of Hurricane Maria .

Liverpool, who finished as runners-up in the Champions League last season, were forced to settle with a fourth placed finish in the league last season, which they secured during the final weekend of fixtures.

But they are so well drilled and are playing with such hunger that no-one has been able to rattle them yet. "The result is the most important thing and the result is ideal".

"Winning here is so hard". "It was a really outstanding performance that the boys delivered today".

"Yes, we could have scored more". We controlled the game.

And Klopp is sure Kane will find his best form, even if he hopes it comes after Saturday. Over 85 minutes we were really dominant.

The only cloud hanging over an otherwise successful afternoon in London was an eye injury sustained by Firmino during a 75th-minute clash with Jan Vertonghen that saw Spurs awarded a free-kick. "It is not comfortable for him", he added.

And now, with Henderson back on the bench, Klopp has given his reason for the decision, admitting their is an eye on the start of Liverpool's Champions League campaign.

"The performance wasn't great".

"There is no point going through this season saying, "come on, come on, we have to win something, we have to win something".

And he admitted Tottenham must improve dramatically to challenge for major silverware this season.

"The expectation from outside is much bigger than previous years because we spent some money".
