Brie Larson clapped back at 'Captain Marvel' haters in the best way

Hello and welcome to season 84 of "This Is Why We Can't Have Nice Things".

Suffice it to say, the pent-up demand for Brie Larson's cosmic hero helped pushed those figures into the stratosphere, and while it would be foolish to draw up box office predictions this early in the game, it certainly bodes well for a strong (and potentially record-breaking?) opening weekend.

Captain Marvel may be an action movie, but that hasn't stopped Internet trolls from telling star Brie Larson that she should smile more. The film arrives on March 8, 2019.

But as expected with anything involving a badass woman from the Marvel franchise, it was met with completely unnecessary sexist backlash.

But it's also a speaker, and given its popularity, Echo should be at least a competent way of listening to music out loud. Unfortunately, neither Link has microphones, meaning all control will be done via an existing Echo device in your house.

A number of fans were weirdly fixated on the fact that Brie doesn't smile all that much in the promotional material - er, maybe because her character's too busy using her superpowers to save the world?

A Twitter user going by the charming handle of "Turd Flinging Monkey", took it upon himself to "fix" Brie Larson in a shot from the forthcoming movie's recent trailer debut. They also pointed out that the reinforcing of these toxic gender stereotypes aren't helpful at all.

Point well made. Captain Marvel's got the fate of the universe on her hands - she ain't got time to be worrying about holding a smile while she's at it. The Oscar victor took to her Instagram story to share some shots of Marvel's male superheroes with smiles edited onto their faces.
