Dale Earnhardt Jr. returned to the race track for the first time since November, racing in the second-tier NASCAR XFINITY Series event Friday night at Richmond Raceway.

A seven-time victor this season, Harvick covered the.75-mile distance in 22.153 seconds (121.880 mph). He ran in the top 10 most of the race and finished sixth.

"We didn't really fall off", Harvick said. "I don't think he knows what I drive, but I wave to him just like I wave at everybody else down that bumpy, bumpy road". "But I don't know, we didn't have the auto at the end, restarting on the outside's kind of tough, just didn't have what we needed right there at the end, but I'm glad we got to lead a lot of laps and we ran real good for all the people that came to watch us".

He's the first driver to lock a spot in the second round of the playoffs. "She won't remember what happened today, but if I never run another race, I got to have her at one event and we got a picture at the auto before the race that she'll be able to have the rest of her life". "In this day and age of data sharing, advantages are no longer existent, but I still feel like, in the long runs, I can save tires and do the things I need to do to be successful here, and, hopefully, it all comes together". Martin Truex, Jr., Toyota, 121.529 4.

"I was actually too tight and we were just kind of concerned with what we usually have here in qualifying", Truex said. Though it's much rarer now, it's nice that we still sometimes get the latter.

"Had fun, we'll try to do another one next year, we'll see where we go", he said. Ryan Blaney, Ford, 121.397 5.
