HMD Global unveils Nokia 5.1 Plus with AI capabilities at Rs 10,999

Nokia has launched the Nokia 5.1 Plus in India, also known as Nokia X5 in China. It comes with a 2.5D curved glass back body with glossy finish frame.

To recall, Nokia 5.1 Plus was launched by HMD Global in August this year. As per the company, the Nokia 5.1 Plus will retail at a price of Rs 10,999, and it will be up for grabs starting October 1st exclusively on the Indian e-commerce site, Flipkart. The handset is powered by 1.8GHz octa-core MediaTek Helio 660 processor (four core of A73 + four cores of A53).

Based on previous reports, Nokia 7.1 Plus is rumoured to come with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 SoC, paired with 6GB of RAM and up to 128GB of internal storage.

The Nokia 5.1 Plus has a 5.8-inch LCD with a resolution of 1520x720. There's a hybrid card slot inside the 5.1 Plus which allows a user to either insert a second SIM card or a microSD card for expanding the storage.

CEO Pete Hawley said that the positive feedback Telltale received for its game releases this year hasn't translated into sales. It does appear that upcoming projects, such as The Wolf Among Us 2 and Stranger Things have been cancelled.

On the camera front, the Nokia 5.1 Plus comes with a 13-megapixel primary sensor, aided by a 5-megapixel secondary shooter and LED flash.

Talking about the performance of the phone, Ajey Mehta, Vice-President and Country Head of HMD Global India said "with Nokia 5.1 Plus we wanted to bring a phone that was high on performance that could get exciting gaming and entertainment experiences closer to a wider group of fans". On the front, the smartphone sports an 8-megapixel camera coupled with an f/2.2 aperture and 80.4-degree wide-angle lens.

Airtel customers will receive INR 1,800 instant cashback and 240 GB data over 12 months on the plans of INR 199, INR 249 and INR 448. It will also be sold on Nokia's online store in India. The device runs on Android 7.1.2 and is powered by a 3000mAh battery. The smartphone will be available in Gloss Black and Gloss Midnight Blue colours. Connectivity options on Nokia 5.1 Plus are 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth v4.2, GPS/ A-GPS, USB Type-C, and a 3.5mm audio jack.
