Mobile Prepaid Brand Metro to Offer 5G Service Next Year

T-Mobile's prepaid brand will launch 5G services at roughly the same time the operator launches the technology for its main T-Mobile brand, according to carrier executives. As was previously announced, the T-Mobile-owned prepaid wireless carrier not only changed its name but introduced new unlimited wireless plans that feature benefits through Amazon Prime and Google One. Starting from $30 a month and heading up to $60, the various plans are data-centric, aiming to appeal to teenagers and millennials. "It'll transform the wireless experience", T-Mobile Chief Technology Officer Neville Ray said in a statement. "5G is going to be huge". Prepaid services are often viewed with an air of distaste, though committing to 5G services certainly adds to the blur between prepaid and postpaid.

Metro installed a pop-up store in New York City's Grand Central Terminal that lets visitors see interactive demos of its combined services on October 8-9. "And with a commitment to bring 5G to life in 2019, we're making it crystal clear: Metro by T-Mobile customers aren't making a compromise".
