Manchester United's Nemanja Matic pulls out of Serbia squad with injury

Matic's Serbia teammates will be action at the Gradski Stadion during the break, but manager Mladen Krstajic has confirmed that the United enforcer will miss out on the match due to a recent back injury.

He has since pulled out, though, and returned to his club's training complex for treatment on an unspecified injury.

Now in 8th place, the Red Devils are seven points behind the Premier League leaders (Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool) after eight games played.

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho will travel to Montenegro during the worldwide break, it has been revealed.

Mourinho, who is set to meet executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward in London this week as speculation continues about his future at Old Trafford, eased the pressure on his position by guiding United to a dramatic 3-2 win over Newcastle last Saturday.

"The manager is trying to turn this [around], he is trying to make the team stronger and ready for the next challenge", the Serbia global said.

"It's very hard but this is football, this is life. Everyone is trying to resolve this situation".

United confirmed Matic has returned to the Aon Training Complex to complete his rehabilitation under the club's guidance, having departed for global duty soon after he featured in United's 3-2 win over Newcastle.
