Real Madrid striker Benzema: Le Graet! Leave me alone

Karim Benzema's hopes of resurrecting his France career have suffered a serious blow after the French Football Federation's (FFF) president said the Real Madrid star is "finished" on the worldwide stage.

Benzema has hinted in the past that Le Graet utilised the scandal to effectively condemn him to global retirement and that World Cup-winning coach Didier Deschamps bowed to racist pressures to exclude him during the 2016 European Championship on home soil. "However, I think that it is over with Les Bleus for him - particularly since he has been declining in form for some time". Deschamps has not called up Benzema since he claimed that the national team coach bowed to the pressure of a racist part of France when agreeing to leave him out of the group of players for the 2016 European Championship.

Benzema hasn't played for the French national team since 2015, after he was implicated in a case of alleged blackmail against Mathieu Valbuena.

"The Valbuena-Benzema affair had another episode last week, but it is still not over", said Le Graet, referring to an ongoing court case which Benzema's lawyers are trying to get dropped. "A ruling should have been issued much earlier".

"Mr. Le Graet, I ask you to forget about me and leave me alone, please", Benzema wrote on his Twitter account. "France is world champion and that's the essential thing".

Benzema, 30, missed France's World Cup triumph at Russian Federation 2018 and Le Graet said in an interview with French newspaper Ouest-France that he did not expect him to represent his country again. The rest is just futile.
