Senate Dems lose health care vote, hope it's campaign fodder

Republican Sen. Cory Gardner of Colorado insisted it was actually the Democrats who had done themselves no favours with the vote.

Conservative radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh said Washington, D.C. maybe become "uninhabitable for a while" if the Democrats do not retake the House in November's midterm elections.

According to one of the latest polls out of the state, which was conducted before Manchin voted to confirm Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh, the senator was beating his opponent by eight points.

"I can just see it just from traveling around the country in the last few days, traveling around Wisconsin, the Republican base is definitely animated after this", Ryan said.

The Republican party raised a total of $5.7 million from Sept. 30 to October 5, compared to $4.38 million raised by the DCCC from the end of September to October 5, which is the day Kavanaugh secured the votes in the Senate to be confirmed. Before the pivotal vote, several of the women confronting lawmakers in Senate halls were revealed to be high-ranking members of activist groups funded by billionaire liberal financier George Soros.

On the campaign trail Trump insisted Mexico would pay for the wall.

The 76-year-old McConnell, who's been in the Senate since 1985 and majority leader since 2015, said one change he's hoping to see is on the Senate's Judiciary Committee.

Republicans slammed Clinton for her statement, especially as it came after Republicans were "shot, stabbed, doxxed, beaten, mailed powder, run out of restaurants, and sent death threats", in the age of the Trump administration.

Kavanaugh is expected to push the court further to the right as he is replacing Kennedy, a conservative who sometimes voted with the liberal justices on key social issues such as abortion and gay rights. But critics said Kavanaugh's demeanor raised questions about his temperament and potential political bias in deciding cases.

Kavanaugh has vigorously denied allegations that he sexually assaulted Christine Blasey Ford when they were both in high school, in addition to accusations of sexual misconduct from two others.
